Due to the record breaking snowfall that fell in California over the last four months, the Mammoth Motocross has to be delayed. Thisisn't the first time that Mammoth has ben moved into September.

Ken Roczen is the biggest name to sign up for the 2023 FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX)

Ken Roczen has confirmed that he will race the FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) in 2023, 2024 and 2025. For the 2023 series he will be on his trusty Suzuki RM-Z450 under the Pipes Motorsports Group banner. Roczen is the defending 450 World Supercross Champion, when he raced a Firepower Honda, at last year's brief two-race test series. Roczen's commitment to the World Supercross Championship for the next three years underscores is desire to race Supercross-only from now on (although he did say that he might race a couple AMA 450 Nationals if his 2023 AMA Supercross points are not enough to get him a spot in the AMA SuperMotocross Playoffs in September).

Ken will take his AMA Supercross Suzuki RM-Z450 to the 2023 WSX series and continue to race with the same team.

One big plus for Ken is that the WSX races in Germany right after the SuperMotocross Play-offs are completed. He said, "I’m ecstatic to have the opportunity to compete at home at the German round on October 14, which is something I could only dream about until now."

Although the first race of the six-race 2023 World Supercross Championship isn't until July 1, the news that Ken Roczen just agreed to a three-deal deal has peaked interest in who else might forego the AMA Nationals, (at least some of them) for a shot at the big purse money in the WSX. The six-race series will be increased to eight races in 2024 and 12 races in 2025.

What holds lots of riders, who might have added some luster to the World Supercross Championship, is that the WSX has a structure that requires the riders to be signed to one of ten official WSX teams—which will each have two 250 riders and two 450 riders. Riders can't just show up and race—unless they are one of a handful of "Wild Card" riders approved for each event.

As it stands right now the 2023 World Supercross Championship breaks down to AMA riders versus French National riders. The announced AMA riders at this point are Ken Roczen, Joey Savatgy, Justin Hill, Dean Wilson, Kyle Chisholm, Shane McElrath, Max Anstie, Dilan Schwartz and Australian Matt Moss. The French riders, at this point, are Jordi Tixier, Maxime Desprey, Thomas Ramette, Gregory Aranda and Cedric Soubeyras.

Obviously with ten four-man official teams, plus four Wild Cards, there will be 44 riders (divided between the 250 and 450 classes)—which mean that the 14 riders named above will eventually be joined by 30 additional riders.

Also inside,; Alex Martin explains the relationship between lifting weights and getting am pump, Twisted Development's Jamie Ellis explains what's it's like to build Ken Rozen's engines and a close-up look at Bob Hannah's 1976 Yamaha OW27 (the one with the radiator on the triple clamps). GasGas factory rider Simon Laegenfelder swept both motos of the 250 Grand Prix of Spain this past Sunday to move closer to the top three in 250 series points. Laengenfelder is currently fourth in the 250 World Championship standings, just four points behind Kay de Wolf, and was enjoying a consistent start to the 2023 FIM Motocross World Championship. Sadly, Simon was practicing on Tuesday when he fell and broke his right arm. He had surgery on it by Dr. Nannanrini on Tuesday night.

Jeffrey Herlings finally broke Stefan Everts record of total GP wins. The Red Bull KTM Factory racer wrote his name in record book as the rider with the most Grand Prix wins when he won the 2023 Spanish Grand Prix to notch his 102nd victory! Herlings has also won 5 FIM Motocross World Championships—2012, 2013, 2016 in the 250 class and 2018 and 2021 in the 450 class. On individual class win, Jeffrey won 61 250 GPs and 41 450 GPs .

Stefan Everts won 10 World Championship and is theonly rider to have won on all four Japanese bands—Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki.

Stefan Everts’ record of 101 GP wins lasted for 17 years, dating back to his retirement from GP racing in 2006. Stefan also holds the record for the most FIM World Motocross Championships at 10, with Tony Cairoli at 9, Joel Robert at 6 and Roger DeCoster, Joel Smets, Eric Geboers, Georges Jobe and Jeffrey Herlings all tied at 5.

Six-time 250 World Champion Joel Robert dominated the 250 class for almost ten years—first for CZ and later for Suzuki.

Joel Robert is tied to the growth, explosion and development of the sport of motocross in the 1970s by virtue of his natural talents and smiling face. The six-time 250 World Champion (1964, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971 and 1972) was born in Chatelet, Belgium, on November 26, 1943. When Joel didn't win the 250 World Champion, he was in second place—he was runner-up in 1965, 1966 and 1967. After his CZ and Suzuki days were over he raced a short time for the Puch factory in 1976. After retiring Joel Robert helped guide the Belgian national team at the Motocross of Nations. Joel Robert passed away at the age of 77-years-old from a heart attack.

Joel Robert signed with CZ in 1964.

Roger DeCoster and Joel Robert with the King and Queen of Belgium.

Torsten Hallman and Joel Robert. In 1966, Joel won four 250 GP's and finishes second in 250 World Championship behind Torsten Hallman. He would be beat by Hallman three years running before taking control of the 250 World Championships.

Joel left CZ for Suzuki for the 1970 season—where he would win his first 250 Championship on a Japanese bike.

Joel Robert was a fun loving guy. He won six FIM 250 World Championships during his career., but he had time to smoke, joke and drink.

Joel raced fast bikes and loved fast cars.

Joel loved Velodrome racing.

Jorge Prado (61) continues to lead the 450 World Championship points on the basis of the FIM's stupid idea of paying points for Timed Qualifying on Saturday. They pay 10 points to be fastest in timed qualifying and Prado has been the fastest qualifier in 4 of the 6 rounds so far.

Note Eli Tomac's "balls of the feet" riding style. It is perfect for navigating deep ruts without getting your foot sucked under the rear wheel. but it obviously has limitations. Interestingly, Eli Tomac will still finish second in the 2023 450 Supercross Championship even if he can't be in Salt Lake City. Eli has a 36-point lead over Ken Roczen with only 26 points left up for grabs in Salt Lake. As for Ken Roczen, he is currently fourth in 450 points, but is only one point behind Cooper Webb, who won't be racing in Salt Lake City— Ken will be third in Supercross points if he score 2 points on Saturday night.

NO TITLES ARE LEFT TO WIN WITH ONE RACE TO GO Note Eli Tomac's "balls of the feet" riding style. AMA 450 SUPERCROSS POINTS STANDINGS GasGas factory rider Pierce Brown is 8th in 250 West points, but will miss Salt Lake City with a injury. AMA 250 WEST POINTS STANDINGS With the 250 East Championship clinched by Hunter Lawrence, all eyes will be on the Haiden Deegan's race with Max Anstie for second in the 250 East. They are only separated by 2 points. AMA 250 EAST POINTS STANDINGS Max Anstie (above) won the first of the two East/West Showdowns in the rain at East Rutherford, but at the final East/West Showdowns in Salt Lake City on Saturday. it won't be raining. 2023 AMA 250 EAST/WEST SHOWDOWN #1 RESULTS • MXA PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: MXA’S OG LOGO TRUCKERS HAT Clicking Here. • UNADILLA MX REWIND RACE WEEKEND ON JUNE 9-11 • 2ND ANNUAL SUNSET RIDGE MX "RIDE FOR HOPE" FUNDRAISER FOR ST.
