A new range of knurled thumb screw variants have been designed to DIN standard.

Leeds-based manufacturer and supplier WDS Components has unveiled a new variant of the DIN 653 knurled thumb screw, expanding its product line to meet the evolving needs of machine builders and end-users.

Designed to conform to the DIN standard, the latest iteration features a wider, low-profile head, offering enhanced functionality and compatibility across diverse applications. Additionally, the manufacturer introduces a complementary range of knurled thumb nuts adhering to the DIN 6303 standard, further expanding its catalogue of standardised components.

The introduction of the WDS knurled thumb screw DIN 653 addresses the growing demand for standardised components within the manufacturing sector. As per the guidelines set by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN), this new offering ensures consistency, reliability, and interoperability in machine design and construction processes, catering to the stringent requirements of modern industrial applications.

Known interchangeably as cylindrical head screws or flat thumb screws, the innovative design features a knurled circumference with a raised triangular pattern, facilitating improved grip and precise adjustment. This unique knurled perimeter enables effortless manipulation, even when handling with gloves or in environments with grease or moisture.

Constructed from robust stainless steel, the thumb screws exhibit exceptional corrosion resistance, rendering them suitable for use in various industries, including food & beverage, medical, pharmaceutical, and cleanroom environments, according to the manufacturers.

The versatility of WDS knurled thumb screws extends beyond traditional fastening applications, finding utility in jigs, fixtures, aluminum profile construction, and integration with OEM machinery.

Available in sizes ranging from thread diameter M3 to M10, with customisable options upon request, these thumb screws offer unparalleled flexibility to meet diverse project requirements.

Complementing the thumb screw range, WDS presents a corresponding line-up of knurled thumb nuts conforming to the DIN 6303 standard. Retaining the low-profile knurled head design, these thumb nuts feature a female thread, offering a versatile fastening solution for a wide range of applications. Variants with cross-drilled holes enable secure positioning on shafts or facilitate the insertion of set screws, enhancing stability and versatility in various assembly scenarios.

Crafted from premium stainless steel, the DIN-compliant knurled thumb nuts, available under part number 8911, are offered in female thread diameters ranging from M5 to M12, ensuring compatibility with diverse hardware configurations.

With a commitment to delivering high-quality, standardised components, WDS Components continues to empower manufacturers and designers with innovative solutions tailored to meet the demands of modern industrial applications.
